Christo's Privacy PolicyOverall Privacy Statement Privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance. Because I gather certain types of information about the visitors of my sites, I feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information I gather, how it is used, and how to correct or change it. This statement discloses the privacy practices for all of my Web sites, which includes members.xoom.com/Christov, www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/2868 and home.mweb.co.za/ch/christov/. Questions regarding this statement should be directed to myself (Christo Venter) for clarification. To return to the page you came from, please use the Back button on your browser or click on the Crest on the top left corner. Information Gathering and Tracking I gather two types of information about
visitors/users: data provided through optional, voluntary registration on my
sites and through optional, voluntary participation in certain discussion
groups; and aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page
views throughout these sites. Such information enables me to better tailor the
content to visitors' needs and to help advertisers better understand the
demographics of my audience. I reserve the right to access and disclose
individually identifiable information to comply with applicable laws and lawful
government requests, to operate my Web Sites properly or to protect myself or
its users. Where practical, I will attempt to obtain the prior consent of the
individual before disclosing individually identifiable information. As mentioned
above, I reserve the right to share aggregated "site usage"
information with third parties. Optional Registration Several topic areas offer free, voluntary registration to visitors. During registration the visitor is required to supply a username, password, and email address, and must answer mandatory survey questions about age, gender, Internet connection, country, and other information. Surveys Occasionally I may conduct user surveys to better target my content to my audience. I may sometimes share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with advertisers and partners. I never share any of this information about specific individuals with any third party. Usage tracking I track user traffic patterns throughout all of my sites. However, I do not correlate this information with data about individual users. I do break down overall usage statistics according to a visitor's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser). Cookies A cookie is a small data file that some Web sites write to your hard drive when you visit them. A cookie file can contain information such as a user ID which the site use to track the pages you've visited. But the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. I use cookies to track user traffic patterns (as described above), when you register as a interest group member, and when you click an ad. Please note that I do not control all HTML served in conjunction with my web sites. My sites may include content from other parties that may perform user activity tracking other than that described herein. In particular, some of my partners may use "cookies" in ways that I do not. In most cases, my web site delivers a one-time cookie to better track ad impressions and click rates. If you've set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie. You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use any of my sites. Use of the Information I use any information voluntarily given by my visitors to enhance their experience in my sites, whether to provide interactive or personalised elements on the sites or to better prepare future content based on the interests of my users. I use tracking information to determine which areas of my sites visitors like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. I do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps me to continue to build a better service for you. I create aggregate reports on user demographics and traffic patterns for advertisers and partners. This allows advertisers to advertise more effectively, and allows my visitors to receive advertisements that are pertinent to their needs. Because I do not track the usage patterns of individual users, an advertiser will never know that a specific visitor clicked their ad, unless you, by visiting that site, provide information. Sharing of Information I use the above-described information to tailor my content to suit your needs and help the advertisers better understand my audience's demographics. I do not share information about individual users with any third party. As I stated above, I do not control the practices of advertisers. If you have questions about how one of the advertisers uses information about you when you click their ad and go to their content, please contact them directly. Opt-out Policy I give visitors options wherever necessary and practical. Such choices include:
